Yuca's L.A. story began as a simple dream a half a century ago, when Socorro "Mama Yuca's" Herrera first saw the 8×10-foot former shoeshine stand in Los Feliz. It would soon become a treasured community spot for the Angelino community and a must-visit for tourists.
When Mama Yuca's launched Yuca's on April 1st, 1976, she didn't have an elaborate business plan, only the dream and desire to bring a little piece of her home-cooking to Los Angeles and share the delicious flavors of her home state of Yucatán. Today that dream continues, with her daughters, Margarita and Dora, greeting customers and dispensing delicious Yucatecan staples like Yucatán tamales (known as vaporcitos), Cochinita Pibil tacos, and much more.
This tiny, historic Mexican taco/burrito/burger stand is a staple of Yucatan-style cooking and a community meeting place for all our new and regular customers. The Herrera family knows Mexican flavors, and their aim is to make it simple, memorable, and always delicious. Yuca's is proud to be known as the best authentic Mexican restaurant in L.A., and strives to keep their menu just as it was when Yuca's opened in 1976, so people can always come back, even 5 or 15 years later, and taste the same flavors they fell in love with at their first bite. That's what Yuca's is all about.
Inspired by the generation's old recipes from our family's kitchen in Mérida, Yucatán, Yuca's daily servings include delicious Mexican food such as LA's best authentic Tacos, Tortas, Quesadillas, Nachos, award-winning burritos filled with Cochinita Pibil, Carne Asada and so much more! Our culinary excellence garnered a James Beard Award in the America's Classics category, but our greatest joy still comes from hearing our customers say, "This is the best I have ever tasted!"

Yuca's has two locations to serve you:
"The Hut" at 2056 Hillhurst Avenue, L.A., in the Los Feliz area, north of Hollywood Blvd., and a few blocks south of Los Feliz Boulevard. You can enjoy Yuca's food while you take a stroll through Griffith Park, enjoy a movie at the Los Feliz Theater, or before a concert at the Greek Theatre.
We've opened a second location at 1075 S. Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena, that offers a menu with more variety – it is five times bigger than The Hut - and includes the same beloved recipes and dishes we've served since 1976, with additional options like Nachos, Ceviche, fries with our Burgers (top 8 in the LAist SoCal Tournament of Cheeseburgers – not bad for a taco stand!). Pop in for a tasty meal at our outdoor tables, a chat with the locals, or a quick pick up at either location. You'll be glad you did!
