Since April 1st, 1976

Yuca’s L.A. story began as a simple dream almost half a century ago, when ‘Mama’ Socorro Herrera landed eyes on the 8×10 shoe shine shack in Los Feliz, which would soon become a treasure for the Angelino community and tourists passing by.

When Socorro opened Yuca’s on April 1st, 1976, she didn’t have an elaborate plan in sight, only the dream and need to share the delicious flavors of her Yucatán and bring a little piece of her home to Los Angeles. Today that dream continues, with now 80-year-old Socorro still leading the band together with her daughter Dora, greeting customers from her bar stool as always, taking their orders on paper plates, and passing around delicious Yucatecan staples like tamales, tacos, burritos, and much more.

Our historic tiny Mexican Taco stand is a staple of Yucatan-style cooking and a place of happiness for all our new and regular customers. We know what we make, and we make it simple, memorable, and always delicious. We are proud to be known as the best authentic Mexican restaurant in L.A., and we strive to keep our menu just as it was almost five decades ago, so people can always come back even years later and still taste the same flavors they fell in love with at the first bite. That’s what Yuca’s is all about.

Inspired by the recipes from our family’s traditional Mexican kitchen in Merida, Yuca’s daily servings include delicious Mexican food such as the best authentic Tacos in LA, Mexican Tortas, Quesadillas, Carnitas, award-winning Yucatan-style burritos filled with Cochinita Pibil, Carne Asada and so much more! Our culinary excellence has received a James Beard Award in America’s Classics category, but our greatest joy still comes from our customers saying, “This is the best I have ever tasted!”

Find us at Yuca’s “The Hut” at 2056 Hillhurst Avenue, L.A. Look for the unmistakable shoe-shine-style store… you can’t miss it! We are in the Los Feliz area, close to Hollywood Blvd., a few blocks from Los Feliz Boulevard. You can take a touristic stroll through Griffith Park, Los Feliz Theater, the Greek theater, Dodger Stadium, and Barnsdall Art Park while tasting the best taquitos you’ve ever had.

Over the years, we’ve opened a second location at 1075 S. Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena, that Dora runs wholeheartedly. It’s five times bigger than The Hut, but it maintains the essence and the same beloved recipes and dishes we’ve served since forever.
